We’ve been waiting patiently for the new flagship Xiaomi phone since the release of the critically acclaimed Mi 5 last year. But it finally looks like the Chinese electronics company are ready to launch their latest flagship for 2017 – the Xiaomi Mi 6.
A few months ago we discussed the possibility that Xiaomi would release their Mi 6 model using the lightning-quick Snapdragon 835 processor.
It looks like we were right, with even more sources pointing towards Xiaomi continuing their good relationship with Snapdragon to maximise their specs. This would mean extremely high processing speeds and, crucially, an extended battery life.
Xiaomi are famous for keeping details about upcoming releases sparse and leaks to a minimum. Despite this, it has been reported that the Mi 6 will come in two models: the regular 5.1-inch phone and a bigger 5.7-inch model.
We can expect the curved edges that many phone manufacturers are employing on their flagships in 2017, as well as a 2K display, according to NDTV.
Looking further into the specs, the Mi 6 looks set to feature 4GB RAM and around 64GB or 128GB of on-board storage, depending on the model. What’s more, the possibility of rear dual-cameras is being discussed.
In the past it has been notoriously difficult to import Xiaomi products into the UK. However you can still get hold of the powerful Xiaomi Mi5 on Gearbest, which has been hailed as one of the best smartphones currently on the market.
This isn’t the only Xaomi news we’ve had this year. Back in January the electronics company announced plans to launch their very own “smarter” router.
They say it will be smarter than the average device, providing connectivity while maintaining several devices attached to it. Xiaomi gave the example of automatically linking Dropbox folders to Sonos audio systems – will plans to add more features in the future.
We know for sure that the new flagship model will be unveiled in this month, with many signs pointing to a 19th April launch. Check back for more details then.
