Do I need a phone line for Virgin Media broadband?

I’ve heard that if I want a internet connection that I need to buy a phone line too. Is this the case for virgin?

No, you do not. Virgin Media’s broadband is different to others, it runs a dedicated cable into your property that handles your broadband (and cable TV) data differently. It does mean, however, that you have to be in a Virgin Media enabled area as they need to have run these cables down your street. They will also need to be able to get from the street to your house without digging up the road, otherwise they’ll need permission from the council. You can, of course, still buy a package from Virgin Media which includes a phone line, they just run this line into you house as well as the cable for the internet data. They have the usual package of free calls, etc.
