About Virgin Mobile UK
Virgin Mobile is the mobile phone product line of the broadband giant Virgin Media. As a virtual operator they do not own any infrastructure, instead the brand uses EE’s robust 4G network (ironically now owned by BT).
In 2016 Virgin Mobile showed how serious they are about the product line by hiring the head of rival Tesco Mobile.
Virgin have some unique features in their mobile packages that make the service appealing, namely: Data Rollover (the ability to carry unused data forwards rather than discard it at the end of the month), free WiFi on London Underground, early phone upgrades and free WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
Music fans also get priority access to tickets for festival such as V Festival.
Virgin Mobile takes the approach of ‘freestyling’ your monthly plan which allows you to select the minutes, texts and data that you want.
Existing Virgin Media customers may find Virgin Mobile appealing as they get discounts that are not available to non Virgin customers.
Virgin Mobile run on EE’s 4G network.
Where to buy
Virgin Mobile sell directly from their website, which can be found here. The Carphone Warehouse are approved resellers of Virgin Mobile plans, so you can often take advantage of their handset offers to find a good deal.
Sometimes, but less reliably so, you can also find Virgin Mobile SIM cards on Amazon such as this.
